Next Stage Campaign
This year, WRAR joined The Next Stage Campaign, a fundraiser to support local Thalian Hall, the oldesttheatre in the country. On the National Register of Historic Places, Thalian Hall is the last surviving theaterdesigned by renowned 19th century architect, John Montague Trimble. The Hall was built when Wilmingtonwas the largest city in the state and housed the town Government, the Opera House and the town library.The presence of this building not only preserves the richness of Wilmington’s heritage, it also serves as botha cultural and political center. As most historic theatres do, Thailian Hall now needs some TLC. WRAR members have been actively raising funds for Thalian Hall. Currently we have raised nearly $2,100 to donate to the campaign which will go toward renovations and improvements, as well as the constructionof an additional theatre area.
