Ready to make invaluable contacts and be inspired by other members? Want to make a positive change in your association’s events and contribute your thoughts and ideas to planning? If so, join the Member Services Committee of WRAR. The purpose of this committee is to plan and manage meeting functions for the Association including but not limited to the General Membership Meetings, the Installation Banquet, as well as all work assigned by the Strategic Plan and Board of Directors.

The Member Services Committee was derived from the Membership Committee established in 1924 when WRAR was founded. Specific duties under the Bi-laws were given to the staff in 1999 and the Membership Committee then became Member Services.

Dubbed the "Party committee" by, REALTOR^® Sharon Laney, the Member Services Committee hosts a variety of different REALTOR^® functions including the Installation Banquet, the Legislative Luncheon, Quarterly meetings, and the Annual Meeting and Election. They manage all of the details from planning to execution, scouting locations, hiring National speakers, deciding on decorations, food, beverages, invitations, posters, etc. This committee also has a hand in New Member Orientation, recommending members for prestigious WRAR awards, promoting REALTOR^® Partner programs and making decisions regarding sponsorship opportunities.

"I think it's a really good way to get to know your fellow REALTORS^® and put a name with a face. Even though you may come to something, you may not be involved like you are when you are the hosting committee. It's great to get other peoples' ideas on growing the membership and its nice way to get to know the WRAR staff," stated REALTOR^® Terry Milam, Laney Real Estate.

"In 2008, I would like to see more attendance and growth. Now, we have a little more than five or six people meeting to make big decisions regarding these events," stated REALTOR^® Sharon Laney, Laney Real Estate. "We know that the more people we have the better our ideas will be and the more ideas we will be able to generate. So we are encouraging new members and existing members to join."

The Member Services Committee partnered with the newly formed Equal Opportunity and Cultural Diversity Committee to plan and host the 2nd Quarterly Meeting in May of 2008. An exciting event is in the works complete with décor and food samples from other cultures.
