Jamie-Lynn, Broker/ REALTOR ®,  ABR

My name is Jamie-Lynn Crist and I work as a Broker at The Property Shop of the Carolinas.  I am currently running for a Director position on the 2018 Cape Fear REALTORS® Board of Directors.  I am fortunate that I currently serve on the Board as the Duplin-Sampson Council President and by doing so, have had the opportunity to begin and execute many projects and decisions that benefit our members and home owners in the local area.  I am also a participant of the 2017 CFR Leadership Academy; I serve on the CFR YPN Board of Directors, hold my ABR Certification and am currently working towards my GRI Certification. My desire to continue serving on the Board stems from the need to see the projects and resolutions I have helped make over the past year to their development stages and possibly to the end of their execution.  This will allow me to help ensure their success and significance to the community and our members.  An additional need is the desire to see my fellow REALTORS® stay abreast of the many changes the Real Estate Industry currently faces and the many more to come.  We need to make sure we are always the most professional and knowledgeable asset to our clients, building the REALTOR® reputation and in turn guaranteeing the bond and trust with clients.  To do this, we need to ensure all members are offered the tools to continue the path in staying, professional, educated and connected.

 I am a true Wilmingtonian, having lived here all my life and pride myself in community involvement and knowledge of Wilmington and the surrounding areas.  Being a part of the history in our beautiful community and having the experience of previous transformations and changes along with the knowledge of how much our community has grown and will continue to grow, allows me to bring a special aspect and knowledge to our Board that many are unable.  Your choice to allow me to continue representing the real estate community and my fellow REALTORS® gives me great pleasure and pride in my career and the field I help represent.  I look forward in continuing to represent the area and my fellow agents and help make sure your voice is a powerful one.

I am seeking a Board of Director volunteer position with our dynamic Cape Fear REALTORS® Association where I can utilize my leadership skills as a highly motived professional to advocate for the long-term health and growth of our Association through financial stability, fostering member involvement, delivering technology, education, and trends that our member’s desire.

Real Estate is a second career and very different from what I had done and not anything like what I expected! I have bought and sold homes, residential lots, and commercial investment property in my adult life, but I had not realized how much the local and national Associations do for home ownership and real property rights until I become a REALTOR®!

I was privileged to serve on the Governmental Affairs Committee from 2013 – 2016 where I participated in making policy proposals, endorsements, and being an advocate for city and county issues that affect our local real estate market. I actively support our Association by attending sponsored events, continuing education classes, and contributing financially to RPAC (Realty Political Action Committee) through our Association because we need these institutions to be our voice and advocate for home ownership rights and member support.

I received my license and Broker status in 2006 and worked with Blue Water Realty in Carolina Beach for 2 years. In 2009 I opened Palm Air Realty (PalmAirRealtySales.com) located in Kure Beach, a full service million dollar success. As Broker in Charge, I understand what it takes to be an advocate, a financial planner, a problem solver, and a business owner! I embrace a healthy lifestyle and support smart planned development with bike paths, pedestrian accessibility and green space.

I would be honored to serve and continue my volunteer involvement as a member of the Board of Directors with our Association. My goals as a member of the Board of Directors include supporting all member needs while driving the Association forward to meet the ever changing demands of the marketplace, regulatory bodies, and the Real Estate industry. I have been asked to answer “WHY I WOULD LIKE TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE POSITION OF DIRECTOR WITH THE CAPE FEAR REALTORS?”   
For over 10 years now I have participated in various committees and activities within our organization.  I have seen changes to our industry that most of us would like to forget, however we have seen great advances as well.  
What made the changes is progressive thinking and action.  We have been so fortunate to have the leadership to bring us where we are today.  Leaders identify problems and find solutions.  If the problem requires help, they get advice from support groups such as committees, fellow board members, full-time staff, the volunteers, and/or membership.  

Why Me?  I believe all Realtors® should always try to demonstrate that we are true professionals. We are the “Experts” in our field.  We must continually raise the bar of excellence.  This is achieved by ongoing education in all aspects of our field, but also by utilizing your personal experiences, and through advising our clients both present and the past.  Realtors® should be known as professionals who have the answers or know where to go for the answers.    
I have been a soldier, policeman, a forensic investigator, teacher, builder, developer, businessman, and Realtor®.
In all my prior jobs, I have learned that continuous training is required if you wish to be perceived as a professional. Then you must commit to demonstrate your knowledge in words and action.  Being a Realtor® requires just as much training, and commitment.
I have learned that all organizations need people willing to listen, learn, plan and act.

Running for Office!  My direction, if elected, would be helping our organization keep our members   committed to professionalism, and helping my fellow board members bring about changes.   
I wish to commit to helping my fellow board members in bringing about changes that are cost effective.
I will help find solutions to our association’s problems, finding a better way of doing business that is not disruptive to our members.
I would like to be present to be able to explain what the changes are, how it is going to impact you.
I would like to be present when you have had a chance to vote on changes to our organization.
You can help by electing people who you feel can make logical decisions after investigating potential solutions to problems as they come up.

Vice President Position (1 Candidate)

 

Sherri Pridgen, REALTOR®, ABR, E-PW, GRI, RRS, SRES 

Thank you very much for considering me for the position of Vice-President for the Cape Fear Realtors Association. I appreciate the opportunity to serve.
 
I received my license in 2002, and immediately started working with Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Realty in Carolina Beach. I remained with Sea Coast for ten years, and then transferred my license to Coastwalk Real Estate in Carolina Beach, where I presently work as the Broker In Charge.
 
I started my committee service in 2010 as a member of the Ambassador’s Program with WRAR. I became an active voting member of the Executive Roundtable, and remain on the Roundtable committee.  In 2014 I became a member of the Board of Directors for WRAR. My position is a three year appointment, and expires in 2017. I have also had the pleasure of attending the Leadership Academy in 2015, attending the Strategic Planning meetings, participating on the Candidate Task Force, Business Skill Work Group, and RCASENC Network and Communication committee. I was appointed to serve as the 2017 NCAR Director as a one year position.
 
We have many interesting changes and challenges as an association moving forward with new leadership in the coming year. With the retirement of Jerry Panz, after twenty years of exceptional service to this association,  it is the responsibility of the Board of Directors, staff and members to ensure a positive and professional transition.
