NEW! Certified Lead Renovator Training Course Feb 05

New Lead-Based Paint Renovation Rules Begin APRIL 2010!
Sponsored by the Property Management Division of the NC Association of REALTORS®

On April 22, 2010, EPA and North Carolina will require contractors to be trained and certified as renovators, if they disturb paint in the homes and child-occupied facilities built before 1978.  Contractors will also be required to train their workers to follow lead-safe work practices to reduce potential lead exposure to protect children. This one-day class taught by a North Carolina trainer with the National Center for Healthy Housing satisfies the training requirement to achieve compliance with North Carolina, EPA and HUD rules. For more information on the new renovation, repair and painting rules go to: www.epa.gov/lead/pubs/renovation.htm

You should speak with your own legal counsel and tax advisor to receive the expert advice you need. These articles will provide a brief education on the subject and help you better understand what questions to ask of the experts!

Call for Action: Extend and Expand the Homebuyer Tax Credit Oct 07

A couple of weeks ago I travelled to Savannah, Georgia for the NCAR Convention. One of the most important messages I heard there was from future NAR President Ron Phipps. He stated that NAR was working very hard with Congress on expanding and extending the $8,000 tax credit which is set to expire November 30th.

First-time homebuyers should be working very hard right now to get under contract and close by November 30th. Given that it can take more than a month under some circumstances in this market to close on a home, buyers are running out of time.

Supporters of the tax credit agree it has succeeded in helping the housing market by getting rid of inventory and foreclosures that drag down value.

NAR is asking for your support by TAKING ACTION NOW through its Call for Action campaign. It is my understanding that only one third of REALTORS® have participated in the Call for Action to contact Congress about the tax credit.

Let your voice be heard in Washington D.C. by clicking on the link below: http://takeaction.realtoractioncenter.com/campaign/hbtc?rk=V1d57aMal5hHE.

You can also go to www.REALTOR.org and find links to the campaign from there. This is so important to our industry, so please take a few minutes to help. Your voice does matter, so do not wait… ACT NOW!

As my year as your President draws to an end, I have thoroughly enjoyed it and have fulfilled one of my goals which was to get more REALTORS® involved with the Association. We have had more people at the last two quarterly meetings than ever before. We want as many people to be involved as possible.

The 2009 Leadership Academy Graduates thought the program far exceeded their expectations, so if you are looking to get involved with the Association you may want to consider applying for the 2010 class. Click Here for an application which is due by midnight on November 20th. I know I got a lot out of it when I took it with the State Association. It gives you both professional and personal growth.

Thanks for your time and dedication to your Association!

Patrice Willetts for NAR Director Aug 28

Patrice WillettsOn Tuesday, September 8th, many of you will be receiving an e-mail from NCAR requesting that you vote for Officers. One of our very own, Patrice Willetts of Network Real Estate, is running for a seat as an NAR Director and she needs your support.

Some of you might be asking yourself “why should I vote for her?” Here’s why…

“Because I care!” says Patrice. “I care about our members. I care about our Associations on the national, state, and local levels. I care about the professional image of the REALTOR® and I care about private property rights and the regulations or legislations that can impact homeownership.”

“I have the energy and dedication to pay attention to what is going on and to apply myself to the issue at hand. Please take a few moments and visit www.PatriceWilletts.info. After doing so, I hope you will be able to cast your vote for me. I promise I will do my very best to represent you to the best of my ability.”

With Patrice as an NAR Director, you and your Association will obtain critical representation on the national level.

Remember that all votes count! There are three other candidates running and so far it looks like all candidates will have a seat.

HOWEVER!!!! The candidate with the highest vote total will be the last one to lose a seat if NCAR’s membership numbers fall.

PLEASE HELP PATRICE GET THE MOST VOTES!

On behalf of Patrice, I thank you in advance for taking the time to cast your vote for her.
