I am asking you to please make an investment in the REALTORS® Political Action Committee. I know times are tough; however, if we do not support the issues and the officials that understand these issues, times will get tougher. You tell me how many first-time home buyers will be in your office wanting a shot at the American Dream of Homeownership if the regulators have their way and a Qualified Residential Mortgage is defined as one that has a 20% down payment. 20%!!!!!!!! An investment from you of $15, $25, $50 – whatever you can do will add to our ability to be effective, to be asked to sit at the table and have our voices heard.

BONUS! As an incentive for you to invest, there will be an RPAC fundraiser at the NCAR Convention next week called “Miss RPAC” – a womanless beauty pageant. Each region will have a contestant & Don Harris will be our participant for Region 2. I spent some time with him last night fine tuning his attire and talent. He is going to be GREAT! And he is in it to win it, but he needs your help. The final three will be based on the total amount of money raised. If you invest in RPAC this week, your investment will be added to Region 2’s totals and we can help Don be one of the three finalists. Then it will be up to him to bring it home. Even if you have already given, only the money collected for the two weeks prior to the convention and at the event itself, will count – so please help Don. He is being such a good sport about this. I cannot give too much away, but I will tell you his stage name… Donatella – use your imagination!

In Spring 2010, several Communication Directors from various State and Local REALTOR® Associations (including WRAR) around the country collaborated to create the first ever REALTOR® Nationwide Open House Weekend. This unique event gave REALTORS® the opportunity to collectively remind consumers about the phenominal interest rates & home prices, the sizeable amount of attainable home choices and the opportunity to take advantage of the Homebuyer Tax Credit. The event was a huge success with a majority of the states participating on both the local & state levels.

It’s back! Due to the success of this event, NAR has now officially agreed to help promote it. Here are some of the ways in which they will be supporting this event:

• Facilitate national media coverage by:
  o Providing a fill-in-the-blanks press release for local association use
  o Writing and distributing a national press release
  o Writing and distributing a matte release on open house tips, stats, and advice that can be placed directly into local papers
  o Pitching select national outlets
  o Posting information about the event on NAR’s Facebook and Twitter pages
  o Providing talking points for local association spokespeople
• Provide materials to participating associations:
  o Home Ownership Matters buttons
  o Home Ownership Matters flyers
  o REALTOR® balloons
• Leverage HouseLogic.com to:
  o Highlight information about the event on HouseLogic.com/buyandsell
  o Develop articles on HouseLogic.com/buyandsell about preparing for open houses, what to look for at an open house, etc., and co-brand existing articles about preparing your home for sale with the NOH logo and additional information about the event.
• Highlight NOH on REALTOR.com by:
  o Promoting the weekend on the homepage
  o Adding notice of open houses for NOH on specific listings and allowing visitors to search for NOH listings (something we’re discussing as a possibility with the R.com folks)
• Use the Real Estate Today radio show to:
  o Air a show or segments leading up to event about NOH and open houses – how to stage a home, what to look for at an open house, etc.
• Provide a section on REALTOR.org for related resource sharing, including:
  o Logo download
  o Local promotion ideas
  o Fill-in-the-blanks press releases
• Write and publish articles to announce the event and report on its success in:
  o REALTOR® Association Executive
  o REALTOR® Magazine and REALTOR® Magazine Online
  o REALTOR.org

• Run a half-page ad about the upcoming event in REALTOR® Magazine

• Highlight on the REALTOR.org home page leading up to and during the event.
